ORCHESTRA PROJECTS AND TOURS

Apart from the intensive one-to-one tuition, playing experience in the chamber music ensemble and the broad-spectrum workshops, the Balthasar Neumann Academy exposes its scholars to a wide variety of orchestra practice. They take part in selected tours and projects of the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble and grow acquainted with a wide repertoire spanning all eras and forms – from Baroque masses for small forces to major operatic projects and symphonic works – and perform in the great concert halls and opera houses of Europe. Another important element of the scholarship is participation in the international exchange projects of the Cuban-European Youth Academy. Scholars are included in each orchestra project on Cuba and in Europe. To enhance the education they receive in their own country, they are introduced to a new culture of music and a new way of working. The international projects are designed to teach tolerance, sensitivity and open mindedness.
