A brief look behind the scenes: Spread over three cities in two countries, a team of nine coordinates everything to do with the Balthasar Neumann Family. This is where all the threads come together.
As a non-profit association, the Balthasar-Neumann-Chor und -Ensemble e. V. promotes art and culture in general and orchestral and choral music in particular. Through the joint creation of choral and orchestral works and the organisation of concerts of a high artistic standard, which are accessible to everyone, it makes an important contribution to the preservation of art and culture. The association is based in Freiburg, where Thomas Hengelbrock founded the Balthasar Neumann Choir in 1991 and the Balthasar Neumann Orchestra four years later. The Büro für internationale Kulturprojekte (BIK) organises its own tours and projects in cooperation with the Balthasar Neumann Choir and Ensemble e. V.. Founded in 1994 with the aim of realising innovative cultural projects, it is still responsible for their planning, realisation and artistic implementation at home and abroad. The BIK works mainly for Thomas Hengelbrock and the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble. In addition to the headquarters in Freiburg, a second office was established in Hamburg in autumn 2014.
